Welcome to our recent project, Chairs! The dictionary defines a chair as ‘a seat for one person, normally with four legs and sometimes a back’. Pretty basic, but that definition allows for a lot of interpretive latitude. With the following images of chairs I have designed, I have explored visual and conceptual options which still result in a piece of furniture designed to enable a person to sit at a height relative to his or her surroundings that is comfortable, looks good and makes that person feel good as the consequence of their interaction with this piece of furniture.

Some of these pieces might look a little ‘out there’ but be assured that once you park your backside in one of my chairs, you’ll be set to enjoy that dinner, read that good book or solve the world’s problems sitting around the table enjoying a glass or two of wine.

Furniture is to be lived with. It is supposed to complement our lives and to make them just that bit more enjoyable. That’s what I have tried to achieve with these designs and the new ones I am working on at the moment.
